Swellify Is Now On Your Home Screen (And It's Pretty Sweet)
Swellify now comes with home screen widgets for iOS and Android. See the surf forecast and current tide at your favourite spots without even opening the app!
You know when you're going about your day, and you see something that changes your plans? Well now, going for a surf can be that reason to change your plans!
Swellify now has home screen widgets for both iOS and Android (we didn't forget about you, Android!). Both a four-day "for-you" forecast AND the current tide at your favourite spots right there, at a glance, all the time and always up to date.
What You're Actually Getting
⭐ Personalised Forecast Widget
A four-day surf outlook for any of your favourite spots. At a glance you'll get daily overviews to see if it's gonna be pumping, fair, or a total dud, no decoding required. Just the surf, personalised to your skill level and custom settings, right on your home screen.
🌙 Freakin' Beautiful Tide Widget
Current tide height, high and low tide times, plus sunrise and sunset in the large widget. Perfect for timing a surf, planning a beach walk, figuring out if the sandbars are going to be any good, or just impressing your mates with how in tune with the ocean you are 🧘🏻♂️
How to Set It Up
Setting up widgets takes about 30 seconds. Genuinely.
👉 Make sure you have the latest version of Swellify installed!
On iPhone (iOS):
- Long press on an empty part of your home screen until the apps start wiggling (we love a good wiggle)
- Tap the Edit button in the top left corner (top right corner on smaller phones)
- Search for Swellify
- Choose your widget size and style
- Tap Add Widget
- Drag it wherever you like and tap Done
That's it. You're done. Go make a coffee, you've earned it!
On Android:
- Long press on an empty part of your home screen
- Tap Widgets
- Search for or scroll to Swellify
- Long press the widget and drag it onto your home screen
- It should ask you which of your favorite spots to show
- Android PRO TIP #1 Tap the widget at any time to go straight to that favorite in the app
- Android PRO TIP #2 Press and hold on the widget and hit "Settings" to change which of your favorite spots the widget shows
Done aaand dusted. 🤙
Pro Tips
- You can add multiple widgets — one for your home break, one for that spot two hours away you keep meaning to check. Go nuts!
- Tap the widget to jump straight into the app for the full forecast breakdown or detailed tide info.
- Press and hold the widget to reconfigure which of your favourite spots that widget shows.
- If you're not sure which spot to set it to, start with your most-surfed break and go from there.
Why Build This?
Swellify's entire goal is getting you in the water more, and a home screen widget felt like the most natural extension of that. The forecast comes to you, not the other way around.
Less time doom-scrolling. More time surfing. That's the mission.

Bonus Tip (For Sticking Around!)
I didn't even know this before I created widgets for Swellify! But if you've got an iPhone and a Mac you can add Swellify widgets to your desktop 😮 Make sure you're signed in to the same iCloud account on both the phone and your Mac computer.
On Mac:
- Right-click on your desktop
- Select Edit Widgets
- Search for Swellify
- Drag a widget to put it on your desktop!
- Do a little dance
That desktop widget just helped me discover that Raglan is going to be absolutely FIRING on Sunday. Raglan's warming up for the WSL event they're running for the first time ever in New Zealand!!
Interacting with the widgets in your Mac desktop is pretty limited, BUT it can help you keep an eye on the current outlook, or the tides at your local beach.
